Punk rock chaos is about to erupt as The Mary Tyler Whores unleash their highly anticipated fourth single and video, 'Whip It,' on March 14th, 2025, via Golden Robot Records. Produced by punk legend Greg Hetson (Circle Jerks / Bad Religion), this turbocharged, high-voltage version of Devo’s cult classic slaps harder than ever, dripping with the band’s signature filthy punk energy.
For frontman Frankie "Crime" Cassara, this cover is more than just a tribute - it’s a full-circle moment.
"The first time I ever heard Devo’s 'Whip It,' I was 10 years old in Bushwick, Brooklyn. My father took me to my brother’s dive bar, and the song was blasting while some wild daredevil chick was riding a mechanical bull. That moment seared itself into my brain. I asked my brother, ‘What the hell kinda music is this?’ and from then on, Devo became a cornerstone of my love for punk and new wave."A band known for their reckless abandon and rebellious spirit, The Mary Tyler Whores took on 'Whip It' as both die-hard fans and fellow misfits in the punk scene. “Devo were like mad punk scientists - anti-rock, full of humor, anger, and bizarre visuals. We’ve always carried that same weird, chaotic energy. Covering 'Whip It' felt like the perfect way to pay tribute while ripping it open for a new generation.”
Shot in downtown Los Angeles in January 2025 - right in the middle of the city’s wildfire devastation - the 'Whip It' video is a high-intensity, no-holds-barred spectacle. Directed, edited, and enhanced with SFX by Faust (Infinivision), with cinematography by Blake Russ, and Money$Punk Productions backing the madness, the video blends surrealism with pure punk destruction.
Legendary producer Greg Hetson even makes an appearance, opening the video as a retro 1980s-style MTV VJ, announcing an alien invasion over Los Angeles. What follows is pure punk mayhem:
"We invited friends and selected fans to a private live performance, all dressed in full ‘80s spirit. In true Mary Tyler Whores fashion, we pillaged, we plundered, we danced, and we absolutely destroyed the set. Of course, we paid for the damage - watch the video to see the chaos unfold!"
Prepare for impact when The Mary Tyler Whores' 'Whip It' drops on March 14th, 2025, with the music video exclusively premiering March 7th via Cover Nation. Watch the video, blast the track, and witness the raw power of punk reinventing an all-time classic.
LONG LIVE DEVO. LONG LIVE PUNK!

Who can arouse the world with a smile? Who can take a miserable day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile? Better still, who can sponsor an on-stage, punk rock, food fight, inviting fans to attend a show and pelt band members with fruits, vegetables, and yes… burgers? Better yet, did I also mention a prosthetic leg! And as the support for Iggy Pop, he is hysterically amused from the side of the stage! Well now, human evolution bred a twisted madness, leading to the undisputed batshit-craziest, punchy-punk rock band with a hint of sleaze, The Mary Tyler Whores… Howard Stern’s favourite band name, seriously.
A brutal, yet melodic gut-punch that attacks you in the middle of a venue-wreckin’ concert! It’s aggressive, it’s intimidating, it’s provocative, it’s hilarious as hell, and all begins around 2000 and sumthin in South FlOr-i-DuH with Frankie “Crime” Cassara, vocalist and lead scoundrel, Doobie Tyler Whore on guitar, and the late Joey Image (R.I.P.), original drummer for proto-hardcore pioneers, The Misfits. They were destined to influence the masses from the start, and fans quickly became infatuated with The Mary Tyler Whores’ megaton blast of twisted punk fury and famous on-stage antics like nothing you’ve seen or heard. From food fighting to ripping it up live, The Mary Tyler Whores gratefully joined some friends a’ la The Misfits (R.I.P. Joey), Iggy Pop, U.S. Bombs, GBH, The Casualties, Murphy’s Law, and The Bouncing Souls on stages to further breed their intense brand of madness!
Fast forwarding to 2023, and transplanted for over a decade to Southern California, the timing was perfect for Frankie “Crime” Cassara to meet up with his best offrienders again and reawaken the savagery of The Mary Tyler Whores! Frankie buzzed Doobie first in Vegas, and they brought back four of the five members from the original band, founder- vocalist Frankie “Crime” Cassara, MTW’s co-founder- rhythm guitarist “Doobie” Tyler Whore, master beater George “Korky” Kokkoris, lead guitarist Rob Deuce, and new addition, Frankies’ longtime henchman on bass, Aaron “The Proj” Miller, and now these vagabonds are revitalized and ready to tour the world and disrupt a city near you as true punk agents of chaos!
