'cry wolf' is the first English language single from London based Swedish natives glashas. It follows four singles released in 2022 and 2023 in their mother tongue.
'cry wolf' is a captivating slice of 80's inspired glittering electro-pop. It twinkles and sparkles with a quirky dreamy vibe of gentle synths, haunting layered vocals, playful hooks and serene melodies. It's complex while also retaining a slightly kitsch, lo-fi, understated stance.
Consisting of artist/songwriter/producer iönä & producer/songwriter Mattias Norén the duo have song production down to an art. 'cry wolf' is flawlessly executed and performed with beauty and class.
They pride themselves on genuine, authentic songwriting. Sharing the fall out in the aftermath of iönä's brothers messy break-up the song explores how quickly love can fade and those who once meant the world can become "the ones who attack". It shares the hurt of malicious whispers, trash talk and how the estranged will say anything, tell any amount of lies "to try and bring you down". Watching her brother become more and more hurt, iönä pleads to "please back away", implying the situation can't be fixed and he's best to remove himself from it, allowing the fire the lies have created to die down.
glauhas are creative, authentic and real. 'cry wolf' is an exceptional piece of art that had me hooked throughout, fully invested in the story of betrayal while captivated by the gentle soothing sounds.
