SINGLE REVIEW: Forge Hounds - Not the One

Forge Hounds latest single 'Not the One' sees the band move away from the thought provoking, hard hitting statement of their debut single "Damned If You Do' into a more playful, pop rock direction.

'Not the One' is a riff driven slice of rock with classic, raspy vocals, hammering drums and infectious energy. It's short and snappy, blasting with catchy hooks throughout. The track is rhythmic with likeness to AC/DC or Deep Purple and their performance heavy sound with hints of punk carnage.

There's an epic guitar solo and the whole song is delivered with seasoned professionalism. Forge Hounds certainly know how to rock!

'Not the One' shares the story of a slight disagreement set to music. Two blokes claiming neither upset a woman, a woman who could have been a mother, wife, sister, friend…anyone. Now she's gone and the lads are left to argue amongst themselves as to who is guilty of upsetting her. Neither willing to take responsibility for their actions for fear of damaging their pride. Protesting "I'm not the one who made her sad". What started off as a question of why the woman was upset turns into an argument between the two men and a show of headstrong male bravado.

Forge Hounds have classic rock down to an art. The versatility to write songs that make a big impression both musically and lyrically. 'Not the One' may be slightly less impactful in its content than its predecessors; it still makes you think while being a captivating, hook heavy earworm.
