SINGLE REVIEW: Danny Peyronel - HEAVEN’S IN A CHEVY TONIGHT
Starting their career at the peak of ‘The Golden Age Of Rock’, and moving through iconic eras and genres, makes an instant name, especially working with the likes of David Gilmour and writing for Meatloaf. This given information makes Danny Peyronel, a songwriting genius.
I could go on and on about the artist's achievements however, the deep dive of the ballad Heaven’s In a Chevy Tonight is calling. From the album It Happens when you Look The Other Way, definitely an album to transport the classic rock fan back into the 70’s and 80’s.
The track opens with a cinematic soundscape of a thunderstorm and footsteps approaching and a car door clicking open and closed, que sweeping of the channels of a radio, all of which are some crispy clear and beautifully tickles the brain, before the song plays.
A gentle piano makes for beautiful accompany with those soothing romantic vocals, with the subtle introduction of clean guitar chimes and the melodic low end bass that gives off a Bowie-esque feel, (I’m thinking it warbles like the bass within Labyrinth- As The World Falls Down) then backing vocals que giving the song some texture, emphasizing the most romantic of lyrics. Before the song dips into a key change and lead guitars make impact, soaring through, and reaching the final chorus with giving that Meat Loaf feel.
Heaven’s In A Chevy Tonight was written for MeatLoaf, but was said to be 40 years too late, however. I feel that Danny Peyronel has already perfected it. The numbers on platforms are tragically low for this track and album so I hope that it gets the traction it deserves in the near future. It’s a legendary piece.
