SINGLE REVIEW: Black Budget - Insanity

‘Insanity’ is exactly what it says on the tin—two minutes and 23 seconds of pure, unfiltered chaos. Toronto’s Black Budget bring a relentless, high-octane energy to the table, delivering roaring vocals, feral basslines, and frantic drums that feel like they’re about to explode at any second. It’s gritty, gruelling, and pummelling in all the right ways, throwing together hardcore punk intensity with a thick, swampy texture that makes everything feel raw and untamed.

There’s an undeniable DIY energy at play, but that doesn’t mean it’s directionless—far from it. The hooks are killer, the riffs are sharp, and there’s a confident swagger to the whole thing that makes it feel like a soundtrack for destruction. Whether you’re losing your mind, speeding down an open road, or just in the mood to break something, ‘Insanity’ is the perfect fuel.

It’s adrenaline-fuelled, fist-pumping, and mosh-pit erupting, capturing the essence of Black Budget in its most exhilarating form. If this is what they’re all about, then I’d say they’ve nailed it.

I'm Amy a Norfolk girl, currently residing at the seaside.

Age: eternally 21 (I’m really Peter Pan!).

By day I'm a Leaks, Condensation, Damp and Mould Resident Liaison Officer and by night I'm CRB's admin bitch, reviewer extraordinaire, point and hope for the best photographer, paperclip monitor and expert at breaking anything technical then expecting Scott to fix it!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours 🤪😜) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.

I'm an Ipswich Town fan and have an unhealthy obsession with hedgehogs!
