Luiz Bruno is a Brazilian guitarist and composer who has been active since the early 2000s. He started by recording and releasing music made on cassette 4 tracks under the Walter Willy pseudonym in 203. He then became an integral part of the Brazilian underground scene in Porto Alegre, Southern Brazil, where he was the bass player and one of the founders of the band Procura-se Quem Fez Isso, an anonymous group that fused psychedelic rock from the 60s and 70s with Brazilian tropicalist sounds and samba as well as relying on humour and theatrical stage performances. The band stayed together from 2004 to 2010 and during this period toured around Brazil with other well known cult Brazilian artists such as Jupiter Maçã and Bidê ou Balde. In 2010 they opened for his heroes and biggest influence Os Mutantes. During their time they also played in major Brazilian festivals over the years gaining a cult following and influencing a lot of the upcoming Neo-psychedelic bands like Boogarins.

Luiz later founded the psychedelic punk trio Dévil Évil in 2011, known for its fast energetic sets with lengthy guitar solos played by Luiz and his satirical lyrics. The band played in festivals in his home state of Rio Grande do Sul and major venues in his city of Porto Alegre, also gaining cult status in the local scene.  Luiz moved to London in 2014 and started his solo career from scratch, initially as avant-garde lo-fi one-man music project I Know I’m An Alien releasing eight concept albums on international labels like Bumpy Records and Crass Lips records from the US in the cassette format with consistent positive reviews, being called “outsider genius” by The Wire magazine. The band wore masks and relied on theatrics in their live performances.

For the first time using his own name, Luiz released his first solo album “Everything’s Fine” in 2018 on vinyl and cassette. In 2022 he released an album of music for an imaginary cartoon inspired by Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention called “The Adventures of Mental Butter” followed by a double album in his native Portuguese language called “Curtição Suprema.” In 2023 he released “I Fly From Life to Life” on Tal & Tal Records from Brazil, an album of psychedelic guitar instrumentals dedicated to his father. He is now joined by “The Adult Children”, composed of drummer James Ovens (Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Instant Flight), Sam Enthoven on Synths and Theremin and Scottish bassist Bill Donaldson. His upcoming album “Chicken Dinner” will be out in April 2024 on the 1Selo record label from Brazil.
