Touring the UK in May / June in support of Manning Fireworks

Selected press for MJ Lenderman and new album Manning Fireworks:

“Outstanding.” - Pitchfork [8.7 - Best New Music]

“Manning Fireworks’ sad sack anthems tap into something devastatingly, purely human." - The Guardian

"we are in the presence of greatness here." - MOJO (4/5)

"a catch-in-your-throat solo album from Wednesday's guitarist." - Uncut (9/10)

“Lenderman’s off-kilter observations are enveloped in a haze of melancholy, but there’s a comforting, wool-blanket warmth to the tone of his guitar and the broken croak of his voice.” - New York Times

“joyously weird alt-Americana… Featuring possibly his best track yet, the North Carolina guitarist-songwriter goes to the sparse and seamy side on this worthy successor to Boat Songs.” - The Observer ★★★★

"Lenderman is one of indie rock's brightest young stars." - NME ★★★★

“‘a quiet revelation… the sound of a modern master at work.” DORK ★★★★

"Lenderman once again redefines slacker charm on Manning Fireworks." - The Line Of Best Fit (9/10)

"a powerful achievement, one that deserves to last." - Clash ★★★★

"the album tells fictional stories with a wry eye and an unparalleled songwriting craft." – Rolling Stone UK

"MJ Lenderman has been central to some of the most exciting releases of the last few years." - So Young

"An unqualified triumph." Record Collector ★★★★

"The songs possess a barbed humour and an open honesty." - Shindig! ★★★★

MJ Lenderman’s Manning Fireworks (ANTI-) was one of 2024’s most beloved and critically acclaimed albums, with The Wall Street Journal crowning the album “one of the best indie-rock records of the year” and a wide selection of publications internationally placing the album in their albums of the year lists.

Following a completely sold-out North American tour and a late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Lenderman & his band, The Wind, have now made their NPR Tiny Desk Concert debut. A stripped-down performance, MJ Lenderman & the Wind performed Manning Fireworks highlights “Wristwatch”, “You Don’t Know The Shape I’m In”, and “Rip Torn” along with “Catholic Priest” from Lenderman’s 2021 album, Ghost of Your Guitar Solo.
