The Trampoline Delay Releases New Single, "Little Lucy" - Out Now
About The Trampoline Delay
The Trampoline Delay, based in Milton, Ontario, blends contemporary melodic, guitar-driven indie rock with the raw energy of ’90s power pop/rock. Led by Pete Marino, the band released their debut album, In Your Head, in 2022. Now, they’re rolling out singles from their upcoming album, Tandem Bike, including Excuses Excuses and The Right Stuff. With Dean Marino (Papermaps, Knacker) joining as lead guitarist, they continue to evolve their live sound, influenced by bands like Sloan, Limblifter, The Cure, and The Pixies. Their next single, Little Lucy, drops on September 25th.
ABOUT THE SONG: “Little Lucy” – released on September 25th, 2024 via Swear Word Records
“‘Little Lucy’ is about watching someone self-destruct and trying to snap them out of it. Lucy’s caught up with the wrong crowd, doing things that drag her down—whether it’s drinking, drugs, whatever. It’s that downward spiral you can’t always pull people out of. The first chorus is a wake-up call, like, ‘Get it together,’ but by the end, it’s more desperate, like, ‘Please wake up,’ after it’s too late.
‘Little Lucy’ started as an indie rock makeover of The Everly Brothers’ classic ‘Wake Up Little Susie’ as part of a fun creative competition between me and some other musician friends. Every couple of weeks we’d pick a theme of some sort, and just take songs and make them our own. I think it took about 30 minutes to program drums, record the guitars, bass, vocal. In this case, I loved the version I made so much, and it was completely different than the original, I didn’t want it to go to waste. So I wrote new lyrics, while still keeping that iconic chorus line of “wake up little”, but definitely took the song in a darker direction. And then I went back to it and added real drums and new vocals.”
