Asbury Park, NJ - October 18, 2024 - New Jersey's The Ratchets, longtime purveyors of punky reggae, are back at it with what is arguably their first foray into full-blown ska with "Late Stage Capital," a track that is sure to move the feet of the New Tone generation clamoring for the next dance floor filler. Click here to listen.
“Late Stage Capital” is a ska-infused critique of end-stage capitalism that invites us to dance along as the world draws closer to impending collapse. Amidst a bleak backdrop of rising oceans, unsustainable debt, and government inaction, the band cross-pollinates effervescent rhythms with their trademark working-class malcontentedness. The satire of getting "recession-proof" with "survival jazz” sees them offering defiance even in the face of decline.
Get off your seat and skank to that late stage beat!
The tune is the latest dispatch in their ongoing singles campaign, and drops today on all major streaming platforms plus Bandcamp, along with Strawberry Zaiquiri's "Bunker Rock" version.
The prolific rockers’ ongoing singles campaign has previously seen the release of “News On High,” “Street Manners,” “Swagger With Kindness,” and “Hurricane Condition.”
In other exciting news from Ratchets-Land, the band has just been announced on the bill for the Sunday, December 29 date of fellow New Jerseyans The Bouncing Souls' returning Home For the Holidays festival at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ!
