The Neon Sea Debut with the Ethereal Single ‘As I Wonder’
Emerging from the vibrant music scene of Dublin, The Neon Sea announces their arrival with the captivating debut single ‘As I Wonder’. The alternative rock band, formed in 2022 by vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Tom Doyle, delivers a sound that seamlessly blends the introspective tones of shoegaze with the raw energy of post-punk.
‘As I Wonder’ explores profound themes of space, time, and existence, creating a meditative yet anthemic soundscape. Produced and recorded by multi-instrumentalist Dave Flood at The Open Studio in Dublin, the track boasts lush harmonies, intricate guitar work, and atmospheric layers. Renowned mastering engineer Alex Wharton (Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine) added the final polish at Abbey Road Studios, London, ensuring the track resonates with a timeless quality.
The Neon Sea’s influences range widely, drawing inspiration from legendary acts such as The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, The Stone Roses, Pink Floyd, and Whipping Boy. These inspirations shine through in ‘As I Wonder’, which begins with delicate guitar jangles and swells into an anthemic crescendo, evoking comparisons to The Stone Roses while carving out a unique identity.
Adding a personal touch to the band’s visual identity, much of the abstract artwork accompanying their releases is created by Tom Doyle’s five-year-old son, reflecting the band’s ethos of blending authenticity with creativity.
