The Gamblers - First Trio of Singles From Reggae Band Featuring Mark of Booze & Glor
The Gamblers have released an opening trio of Boss Reggae singles to light up dancefloors worldwide!
Three limited edition 7” offerings: “Tonight,” “Boom! Boom!,” and “One More Time”...all three singles strictly limited to one-time pressings of 250 copies each!
Each one features the original song on the A-side, and a classic cover on the B-side: the Jimmy Cliff-written “Let Your Yeah Be Yeah,” originally recorded by The Pioneers, "Sufferer," originally by The Kingstonians, and “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” the all time classic Holland-Dozier-Holland Motown smash made famous by The Supremes!
The Gamblers are an old school reggae-influenced combo brought together by Mark - singer of long-running streetpunk legends Booze & Glory - as an outlet for his well-established love of Caribbean music. He has a great affection for old school genres like rocksteady, calypso, and the original Jamaican ska, but especially early Boss Reggae from the era beginning around 1968-69.
After a short-lived reggae project two decades ago, and more recently, the positively received Booze & Glory Reggae Sessions records - which re-imagined and re-arranged their streetpunk anthems with some assistance from Vespa & The Londonians, the inevitable conclusion was that Mark needed to form a full-time reggae band, and The Gamblers are that group of experienced and skilled musicians. This trio of singles is the first results of their time in the studio with producer Misiek.
Although Mark is the first to stress that this is not “pure” early reggae, what The Gamblers are is the sound of an exciting modern band playing with all inspiration, enthusiasm, love and respect for those classic boss sounds! Turn it up!
