SUCKER PUNCH TRADE BLOWS IN ā€œINCOGNITO MODEā€ VIDEO

Sucker Punch are capping off an explosive fall with the cheeky ā€œIncognito Modeā€ music video.

ā€œIncognito Modeā€ is the next single off the New Jersey bandā€™s October EP Better Pleasures, and hits the sweet spot between heavy and catchy thatā€™s critical to the bandā€™s pop punk-emo sound. Introspective and energetic, ā€œIncognito Modeā€ drives forward the EPā€™s themes of coping and self-improvement.

An anthemic chorus of ā€œIā€™ve been here before / Always chasing the feeling / A little hit of dopamine / Is that too much to ask for me?ā€ will be ringing in your head before the wildly fun breakdown kicks in with dueling vocals. A forceful call of ā€œWhat a wasteā€ accents the main vocalsā€™ deliberate repetition, ā€œItā€™s not so sad alone / Iā€™m doing just fine on my own.ā€

Crisp production creates a rich, sonic environment, where distorted power chords and moody guitar leads come together to blend tension and aggression.

Sucker Punch bravely faces furious foes as a dodgeball team in the trackā€™s music video. Reminiscent of pop punk classics like ā€œIā€™m Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of,ā€ the video shows the band pulling through a grueling tournament - in matching outfits, of course. Donā€™t miss the video premiere on BVTV today.

Guitarist Billy Butka gave insight into the music and film they sought to pay homage to: ā€œWe really miss the days of goofy and fun music videos. A Day to Remember were kings of that and itā€™s something we really wanted to take inspiration from. So why not combo that with a favorite movie of the band: ā€˜Dodgeball.ā€™ā€

Conquering challenges in both the music video realm and the real world, the band recently rescheduled the Better Pleasures release show after its original venue, Asbury Parkā€™s House of Independents, was forced to close due to flood damage. Saltyā€™s Beach Bar in Lake Como, New Jersey will now host the Double EP Releasemania show co-headlined by Sucker Punch and Halogens on Saturday, December 23.

ā€œIncognito Modeā€ follows ā€œWorst Case Ontarioā€ and ā€œIā€™m Ready to Ride Giants, Kunuā€ to round out Sucker Punchā€™s 2023 singles.

IN THE HEADLINES

ā€œRight from the onset of the EP, the way they creatively explore people's emotions and relationships through their lyricism in such a poetic and focused way sets them apart from most bands in the genre.ā€

ABOUT SUCKER PUNCH

Sucker Punch is a fresh and hard-hitting band with old ties to both the New Jersey and Philly DIY punk scenes. Garnering influences from The Story So Far, early Fall Out Boy, and New Found Glory, this band bridges the gap between the early 2000s emocore wave of bands, and the current movement of emo and pop punk. Sucker Punch aims to take a strong focus on personal and self-reflective lyrical content, framed within upbeat and catchy riffs and melodies. Within months of starting as a solo project, the band now consists of lifelong friends who all share the same passion for both alternative music and culture. Their EP Better Pleasures takes the bandā€™s sound in a more dynamic and anthemic direction.
