SINGLE REVIEW: The Roxies - Animals

The Roxies fire off two and a half minutes of pure power pop brilliance with ‘Animals’, a track bursting with bouncy energy, sharp hooks, and an undeniable groove. There’s a raw, garage-punk spirit running through its veins, but it’s wrapped in an effortlessly melodic package that makes it as danceable as it is hard-rocking. The band’s English-fronted Berlin punk sound is on full display here, balancing grit with charm, attitude with infectious fun.

From the moment the punchy drums kick in, the song moves with an unstoppable momentum. The guitars are gloriously rough-edged yet irresistibly hooky, laying down riffs that stick instantly. Gravelly vocals add just the right amount of bite, contrasting with the perfectly executed harmonies and gang vocals that give the chorus an anthemic, rallying feel. It’s got that perfect level of underproduction—just polished enough to hit hard but still loose and organic, retaining a gloriously DIY edge that keeps it feeling fresh and real.

The Roxies channel the best of power pop’s golden years while keeping their punk energy front and centre. ‘Animals’ is packed with personality—charming, melodic, and impossible to resist. Whether you’re nodding along or throwing yourself into the rhythm, there’s no escaping its infectious pull. This is punk rock with a playful heart, proving that The Roxies know exactly how to craft a tune that sticks.
