SINGLE REVIEW: TeethOut - Streetlights

TeethOut’s ‘Streetlights’ hits like a shot of adrenaline, delivering a perfect dose of infectious pop-punk energy. With a self-deprecating nod to their “very middle-aged” status, this skate-punk band from Charlottetown, PEI, proves that age is just a number when it comes to capturing the feeling of youthful frustration. As someone who’s there myself, I can’t help but love their approach. Us oldies can totally still rock out, right?

The track itself is an anthem for anyone who’s spent too many days stuck in the rut of waiting for something better to come along. The lyrics capture that familiar feeling of yearning for happiness that feels just out of reach. It’s a relatable frustration that will strike a chord with anyone who’s ever felt lost or adrift, giving ‘Streetlights’ the perfect sing-along power for those emotional days.

Musically, the song is a high-energy ride. It’s got all the hallmarks of early 2000s SoCal pop-punk—melodic, punchy, and irresistibly catchy. The dynamic guitars drive the track forward, while the bright, addictive drums and grounding bass line give it that mosh pit-ready feel. There’s an epic guitar solo that pulls everything together in a stunning moment of raw, authentic brilliance. ‘Streetlights’ isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel, but it doesn’t need to—TeethOut knows exactly what makes pop-punk work and nails it with polished glory.

It’s energetic, with a feel-good sound, and will definitely get your adrenaline pumping. From the infectious hooks to the way it perfectly encapsulates the vibe of a whole genre, ‘Streetlights’ is a celebration of everything that makes pop-punk so damn fun. It’s an anthem for those who, like me, are still clinging to their youthful spirit.
