SINGLE REVIEW: STUKA - STUKA

STUKA, an art/music project based in Hull, delivers a captivating narrative of love and war on unapologetically raw debut single 'STUKA'.

Creeping in on a darkened vibe and nervous energy, STUKA jangles it up with hooky guitars before the wonderfully articulate post-punk-inspired vocals chime in. Talking influence from the American rock scene of the 70s/80s, STUKA draws likeness to the Ramones or Velvet Underground with their gritty, unpolished sound.

The 'STUKA' is the first in a series exploring the impact of a family torn apart as the father is sent to wait in limbo for the announcement that war has broken out. An interesting concept that embraces both real-life topics and allows the band's creativity to flow. Giving them a platform to evoke genuine empathy within the listener for entirely fictional characters.

Retaining a "rough around the edges" sound maximizes impact and authentic emotion. 'STUKA' thunders and drones, as if to replicate the uncertainty of war like bombs dropping all around. Confusion and frustration rain intertwined in the tracks' DIY vibes.

A thought-provoking listen, STUKA are both captivating musicians and insightful storytellers. Creating vivid imagery with their words while also producing a banging anthem that blossoms with droning basslines, killer riffs, fuzzy chords, and pulsating drums.

A bold debut single. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story develops.
