SINGLE REVIEW: JBNG - Brutus

JBNG brings a fresh, unpredictable energy to ‘Brutus’, a track that thrives on contrast and creative shifts in momentum. Effervescent and dynamic, it moves through a series of sharp transitions—one moment full-throttle with punchy guitars and crashing drums, the next easing into a downtempo, swinging groove before dissolving into a hypnotic, psychedelic haze.

The guitars are particularly striking, shifting from angular, jagged riffs to a more slapping funk-like attack before settling into soft, melodic passages. The vocals have an arty, expressive quality that adds another layer of intrigue, riding the shifting instrumentals with ease. There’s an intentional push and pull here, an interplay between urgency and restraint that keeps the track engaging throughout.

‘Brutus’ is a bold, inventive piece—gritty yet fluid, frantic yet mellow, seamlessly weaving together different energies into something that feels both unpredictable and completely natural. JBNG proves that rock doesn’t have to be one-dimensional; sometimes, the best moments come from knowing when to hit hard and when to let things breathe.
