SINGLE REVIEW: GLIDDEEE - SUPERTASTEUR

GLIDDEEE, a fiery new band from Beirut, has unleashed their debut single 'SUPERTASTEUR', a high-energy, infectious track that blends indie rock with unapologetic punk. Formed by Marco Bazerji and Chris Aoun in 2022, and later joined by Younes Rizk and Ali Hamdar in 2024, GLIDDEEE is a fresh, rebellious voice in the Lebanese music scene. The track perfectly captures their raw energy, melding angular guitar riffs with a pulsating bassline and relentless drums to create a sound that’s impossible to ignore.

From the moment the song kicks off, its bright, airy sound pulls you in with an uptempo drive that feels contagious. The fuzzed-out vocals drip with a rebellious spirit, brimming with unrestrained creativity and authenticity. There’s a sense of urgency and defiance in every note, a clear reflection of the band’s commitment to breaking boundaries while keeping things real. It’s a vibrant and unapologetic introduction to their sound, and one that sets the tone for everything to come.

What makes 'SUPERTASTEUR' stand out, though, is its seamless blend of polished production and the DIY ethos that’s so crucial to punk and indie music. The track pulses with energy, and yet there’s an unrefined, raw edge to it—an element that makes it feel all the more urgent and alive. Around the two-minute mark, the tempo takes a sudden lull, introducing new textures that shift the track into more post-rock territory. This brief respite adds an unexpected layer to the song, before ramping back up to the driving intensity that brings it to a thrilling conclusion.

Overall, 'SUPERTASTEUR' is an excellent debut from GLIDDEEE, offering a dynamic blend of indie rock and punk with a rebellious twist. The song is an infectious, genre-bending track that perfectly encapsulates the band's energy and potential. It’s a bold statement, and one that gives you a taste of what this Lebanese quartet is all about: driven, creative, and full of promise.
