SINGLE REVIEW: Cody Perez - Live Again
Amerakin Overdose vocalist Cody Perez questions self-worth, the quest for survival and a better life on third solo single 'Live Again'.
Cody takes a break from Amerakin Overdose's proggy, industrial, high energy sound trading it in for a powerful, impassioned moment of soaring power pop/rock. With swooping choruses and breathtaking vocals.
'Live Again' is a song about acknowledging mistakes, feeling broken by them but refusing to focus on regret. Accepting that you're the biggest part of your own problem, your own worst enemy, forever choosing the hard way. The verse delivers deeply personal layers of angst and emotion whilst the exhilarating chorus blasts with positivity and the certainty that things will be okay, you will survive and live again. 'Live Again' is a track to heal you, to inspire you to keep going, keep pushing because there's better times to come. It's a stunning lyric wrapped in a powerful sound that overcomes the listener.
The verses present a downtrodden, somewhat defeated persona while the chorus brings big riffs and thundering drums. 'Live Again' is a beautiful song with exceptional songwriting. Cody's voice is raw but impeccably produced allowing the track to pour with feelings but also sound polished and professional.
'Live Again' is dramatic, with elements of rock and pop and a slight hint of experimentation. It's enthralling and exciting while also providing food for thought and a wave of assurance. It's incompressible to me why Cody has less than 100 monthly listeners on Spotify, his impactful sound is as good as some of the much more established artists out there.
