SINGLE REVIEW: Blue Attics - Troublemaker
The Netherlands' Blue Attics blast on their genre-hopping new single 'Troublemaker'.
Taking influence from "Peaky Blinders" 'Troublemaker' tells the story of a fearful town controlled by a mob boss. It confronts feelings of unease and distress amongst the townsfolk, eventually leading to revolt. The track ends with rebellion and the people regaining control.
An excellently executed song, 'Troublemaker' encompasses pop punk alongside elements of alt-rock, indie, and rock n roll, adding some moments of progressiveness and aspects of noise rock experimentation. It's a diverse sound with melodic guitars teamed with more rugged riffs and high-octane drums.
The music wonderfully presents the subject matter, the frustration, the fear, and finally, the outcry. The gunshot and bustle of a busy pub really bring their story's finale to life.
It's an urgent, energetic tune like a power surge or lightning bolt. A fun track that's sure to make you want to get up and dance.
