Scott's Year in Review 2022
Album of the year: As my monthly On Repeat suggests that whilst I enjoy the odd new track I have a tendency to stick to a core selection of my favourites.
I spent most of 2022 with Biffy Clyro blasting at every opportunity although I did take time to indulge in the latest Frank Turner album “FTHC” of which the track ‘I Haven’t Been Doing So Well Lately’ has become a staple on my heavy rotation.
Gig of the Year: Hands down Biffy Clyro at the first direct Arena, Leeds having earnt themselves the accolade of becoming my second favourite band when I first encountered them back in 2016 this gig was everything I anticipated and more.
I also had the pleasure of shooting another firm favourite Imelda May at York Barbican who has a sensational voice and majestic stage presence.
Film of the Year: Top Gun Maverick from the opening scenes being almost frame to frame as the original 1986 movie this gave serious nostalgia for that movie whilst being a worthwhile sequel. Maverick has some of the best aerial shots even seen on film and to know these were shot practically just blows my mind.
Game of the Year: It’s rare I play games when they come out, except FIFA23 but that’s a bit of a lame pick!
Sporting Event: Based solely on the football it has to be The World Cup, will we ever see another final as good as that?!
Hero of the Year: 100% Rob Burrow/Kevin Sinfield, their love and friendship and the superhuman things Kev has been doing to raise funds and awareness for MND. Donate to MND here:https://www.mndassociation.org
