Riding The Low Release “Lifeboats” and Tease Big Plans for 2025 - A Bold New Chapter: New Music, Evolving Sound, and a Fresh Creative Approach

Riding The Low are proud to present their latest digital single, Lifeboats, featuring the powerful A-side “Lifeboats” and the beautiful B-side “Lovelock Suicide.”

This release marks a pivotal moment for the band as they embrace a self-reliant approach to production. By investing in recording technology and honing their skills, the group has achieved creative freedom while maintaining a polished, professional sound. Much of the work was captured in their own spaces, allowing the band to take complete control of their creative process.

Paddy Considine reflects:

“We’ve never been on a label, but I was always searching for success and trying to get the recordings sounding better. We never quite got the process right; there was always something missing. Investing in equipment has given us the freedom to record at our leisure. All the creativity is in our control. I feel liberated from trying to make things perfect. We just have to be happy making music that we are proud of and want to listen to.”

Guitarist Chris Baldwin adds:

“By taking the production into our own hands, we’ve unlocked something powerful. It’s allowed us to create the sound we’ve always been reaching for.”

Mixed by Travis Harrison (Guided By Voices, Built to Spill) and mastered by Jamal Ruhe (Jimmy Eat World, Phoebe Bridgers), Lifeboats highlights the band’s commitment to their growth and evolution.”

On the track's meaning, Paddy explains:

“‘Lifeboats’ is about escaping reality. The lifeboats aren’t in the sea; they’re from the skies, like an alien abduction. It’s a plea: ‘Somebody come and save me from this world. Save me from self-judgement and the judgement of others.’ Ultimately, it’s about escapism. The girl in the song wants to leave her reputation behind and be taken away. Metaphorically, she wants to begin again, but we can’t erase our mistakes—we have to learn how to accept and live with them.”

This release is just the beginning of an exciting 2025 for Riding The Low, with a new album, a UK tour, and confirmed festival performances at Kendal Calling and Download Festival. More announcements are on the horizon.
