Indie-pop artist and self-proclaimed “lesbian overlord” Polly Money is releasing her highly anticipated EP, T-Shirt Nothing Else, alongside a behind-the-scenes music video for the fourth track on the EP, “30 Minutes”. Fans of the likes of The Japanese House, Dijon and Clairo will find solace in Polly’s closely personal lyrics paired with genre-bending, electronic-leaning production flourishes. With T-Shirt Nothing Else, Polly Money navigates the complexities of love, longing, and self-discovery, fully stepping into her own and establishing herself as a standout queer artist in the indie-pop landscape at large.
T-Shirt Nothing Else features five stunning tracks that are at once reflective, wistful, and addictively groovy. The opening track, "Milk & Honey", sets the self-exploratory tone of the EP, capturing the dizzying exhilaration of blossoming queer romance tempered by the fear of what would happen if those feelings came to fruition for the first time. The unassuming head-bopper “I’m not proud” explores the addictive complexities of guilt and desire in a relationship, boasting a dreamy, synth-laden production melded with Polly’s sweet-as-honey vocals and 70s-inspired retro keyboard flourishes.
“30 Minutes” takes a moodier tone, finding Polly trapped in a self-scathing spiral: “I broke a heart just to fix my own / Walked through the dark and into the moonlight / I can’t take back the things I’ve done / That’s all on me”. Filmed in Polly’s home, producer Connor James’ home studio, and producer Chloe Kraemer’s studio in East London, the track’s accompanying music video offers an intimate and joyful glimpse into the making of the EP. Polly says about the video: “The aim here was to collect footage that showed the fun we’ve had while making this EP, as playfulness was one of the things to keep us going in the long hours of the creative process. I also wanted to spotlight my two producers and best mates, Connor & Chloe, who have helped elevate this music in a way I had never imagined.”
Following this, the warmth and power of Polly’s soulful lyricism take over in “T-Shirt” (produced by Polly), which clocks in at just under 2 minutes long and echoes with the sugary, intimate tastes of longing and love. And the final track,“Anything”, closes the EP with a stunning autobiographical musing on Polly’s feeling of imposter syndrome as a guitarist and vocalist on the road with pop-rock heavyweights, The 1975. Refreshingly vulnerable, the track is a culmination of Polly’s honest exploration of her innermost thoughts and emotions, as she sings: “You know I hide it so well / That you’d never even pick up on it / But man, I’m struggling / And I got everything, it would seem / But it’s not how I feel about, I feel ‘bout anything”. Deliciously reminiscent of The 1975’s grooviest hits, Polly Money uses this concluding track to stake her ground, finding her own unique sound as a pop artist in her own right.
After a whirlwind 18 months joining The 1975 on their At Their Very Best tour as a live guitarist and vocalist, Polly Money has emerged from the maelstrom more confident in her craft than ever. Garnering praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and landing spots on multiple Spotify and Apple Music playlists, Polly Money has soared into the realm of indie alt-pop with force. Polly recently headlined The DORK Hype List Tour throughout the UK this February, hitting the road with Welly and The Pill. Fans can also catch Polly live at three major festivals this summer, including Truck Festival, Kendal Calling, and Victorious Festival (see dates below), as well as Friday’s headline slot on the Pyramid stage, Glastonbury 2025 as a member of The 1975.
