Newport, South Wales indie/synth-pop quartet PARCS are pleased to reveal their new single ‘Red Lines’ set for release on 25th March 2025.

The track is the latest to be taken from their forthcoming new EP Sleepless, which will be released on 2nd May 2025. The record explores themes of the mental health struggles often found in a life of chronic pain, whilst still encapsulating their signature hopeful, nu-disco-driven sound.

PARCS were also recently announced for this year’s FOCUS Wales Festival, with further live dates TBA.

Commenting on the single, the band say: “‘Red Lines' explores themes of anxiety, depression and hopelessness. Ethereal synths cut through the wall of noise created by the distorted guitars, building an atmosphere that hits you in the chest.”

The track follows on from previously-released singles ‘Fever’ and ‘Pull/Push’, which have been steadily gaining traction in their home nation of Wales with growing support at Nation Cymru, Music Blog Wales, Circuit Sweet, BBC Radio Wales and more.

Written and recorded at the band members’ homes across months of collaboration and voice notes, the new material on Sleepless was finalised with vocals recorded at StudiOwz in Elly's home county, Pembrokeshire.

“This was the first time we had the opportunity to get away from home and record over a weekend, making a real event of it,” say the band of their experience recording the set of songs. “The whole weekend was so wholesome and really cemented the direction we’d gone in for the EP. There were dog cuddles (love you Basil), ice cream and sea swimming which added to the wholesome vibes. Musically, StudiOwz was ideal for us, with Owain making us feel so comfortable and giving us the space to be creative. We all left feeling like that was one of our favourite weekends of the year.”

Drawing inspiration from the dreamy tones of ‘80s synth pop and the modern production style and techniques used in electronic music, South Wales’ PARCS have pioneered a future-leaning euphony that’s both uplifting and introspective by turns.

The band's sound is characterised by shimmering synths, hooky guitar riffs, driving bass lines, and four to the floor drums, with bittersweet, melancholic choruses that you can't help but move your feet to—it’s music with both groove and heart.

PARCS have released 2 EPs to date—2019’s I’m Not Having A Nice Time and 2022 follow-up Dawnsio Trist—with their most recent standalone single ‘Something Sweet’ dropping earlier in 2024.

Headlining the Settlement Stage at Greenman Festival 2024, as well as a stage at BBC 6 Music Festival Fringe in Cardiff, the quartet have become regulars at Focus Wales Festival. In 2024 they were awarded BBC Horizons funding which helped fund the new release.

They have received radio support from Deb Grant at BBC 6music, Adam Walton, Bethan Elfyn, and Molly Palmer at BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru, and recorded a live session for Huw Stephens’ BBC Radio Wales show earlier this year.
