Ex-members of Marietta and Our Sunday Affairs release new Wonderglu album, GLU2: Back On The Line.

Born in reference to a junk item in the video game Fallout, Wonderglu reps a charming sound that’s both fun and true to the heart of emo. The playful trio, made up of Andrew Weigel (drums/vocals), Jacob Lance (guitar/vocals/“everyone’s favorite member”) and Donald Malmos (bass/“band dad”) have been playing together in Philly since 2017. Deep in the emo revival scene, the supergroup joined as previous members of east coast bands Nicknames, Marietta, and Our Sunday Affairs, wonder-gluing themselves together into a tight knit sound both poignant and catchy.

Wonderglu forms a unique amalgamation of classic melodic hardcore (think Lifetime), dulcet Elliot Smith-like vibes, and that classic Midwest-emo twinkle, forming a new sound ultimately all their own. The band’s 2020 release ‘95 dreamland features some sweetly gut-wrenching vocals, paving the way for the heavier sounds of 2022 release, All Wire / No Net. With songs about celebrating down time off after 70 hour weeks, a fictional vision of tailgating at the pearly gates, and deep cuts about family and the hardship of navigating loss, Wonderglu dig into the caverns of what it means to be human while recognizing the healing power of laughing with friends.
