Norwegian Alt Pop Singer-Songwriter Maria Heivang releases her debut single: “WHEN I HAD YOU”

“When I Had You” which releases on 27th February 2025, is the debut single from Norwegian singer-songwriter Maria Heivang. Maria moved from Lillehammer to Manchester in pursuit of her musical dreams in 2024. The single is the first single from her forthcoming debut EP “ARGH in love” which will be released throughout 2025.
“The song is about reflecting on the feelings of not appreciating something good when you had it, and realising too late what you had once it’s gone.” states Maria.
Having grown up in the famed Winter Olympic town of Lillehammer in Norway, Maria reflects on her time in a small town and her wanderlust desire to move to a big city, which she has recently done in having recently moved to Manchester. Maria’s music retains a Nordic charm along with its alt-pop edge and this debut single demonstrates this juxtaposing mood eloquently as someone who self-admittedly bottles her emotions up.
“Releasing this EP is a dream come true. I have been working towards this moment for years and now it’s finally here! I am a sensitive person, dramatic at times, and I feel all of my emotions deeply. Writing songs is my outlet for unexpressed emotions. This EP reflects all my emotions from the past years. It’s my overexaggerated teenage love story. It’s scary sharing them with the world, but it’s also liberating!”
