Indie folk band Norabelle are set to return with their latest single, "I Am Not a Talker", available on all major streaming platforms from March 7th. The track serves as a poignant introduction to their forthcoming album 'The Mountain Blinks', set for release on April 11th, 2025.
The single, a delicate yet deeply evocative composition, explores the enduring weight of grief and the challenges of verbalizing loss. Speaking about the song, Ken from the band shared:
“I Am Not a Talker is about being unable to speak about grief even after such a long period of time. It’s about internalising it instead and allowing it to colour your view of life. The song also touches on a major theme of the album, the unreliability of memory.
The music video is taken from a film called Foreclosed by Eoin Heaney. It features a run-down, deserted old house, which I feel fits the song well. It was someone else’s home at some point; full of love and full of memories. These memories are faded now.”
Hailing from Dundalk, Norabelle consists of Ken Clarke (Guitar & Vocals), Shane O’Hanrahan (Guitar, Vocals, and Piano), Stefano Rossi (Bass), and Stephen Ludlow (Drums). They have developed a reputation for their beautifully hushed, melodic folk sound, characterized by delicate fingerpicked guitar, intricate piano lines, and ethereal harmonies. Their influences include Sun Kil Moon, Bonnie Prince Billy, Red House Painters, Lambchop, Elliott Smith, Smog, Bill Callahan, and Sufjan Stevens.
Following the success of their debut album Wren, which received critical acclaim from Irish media outlets, Norabelle has spent the past year recording their much-anticipated new album at Black Mountain Recording Studios in the breathtaking Cooley Mountains.
Critical Praise for Norabelle:
“Achingly sweet harmonies, overlaying acoustic guitars, cello and the lightest percussion, but it's their poetic storytelling that sets their songs apart from the throng.” – The Sunday Business Post
“If you think more along the lines of the similarly musically hued Adrian Crowley or Bill Callahan, you’ll have some idea of the elegance on display here.” – The Irish Times
“There’s a beauty to gregarious Bird and Wren that is truly breathtaking.” – Hotpress
With their new music, Norabelle continue to refine their craft, offering listeners a deeply introspective and emotionally rich sonic experience. "I Am Not a Talker" sets the tone for what promises to be a stunning new album, solidifying their place as one of Ireland’s most compelling indie folk acts.
