Nerina Pallot Announces Extended & Remastered Edition of Hit Album 'Fires' + London Palladium Show

NERINA PALLOT

RELEASES AN EXTENDED AND REMASTERED EDITION OF

HER HIT ALBUM ‘FIRES’ ON APRIL 12TH - PRE-ORDER HERE

‘FIRES’ WILL BE PLAYED IN FULL AT HER LONDON PALLADIUM SHOW ON APRIL 13TH

“While Pallot is commendably willing to have a lash at the big themes — life, time, death, desire, meaning; all the greats — she invests her passionate musings with a twinkling wit that redeems her songs just the right side of melodrama.” The Times

“The more you listen to it, the better it gets.” **** - The Guardian

‘Fires’ was the moment in which Nerina Pallot’s talents connected with a huge audience. Initially released entirely independently, the album became an irresistible success story earning Platinum certification in recognition of 100,000+ sales, leading to a breakthrough hit in the shape of ‘Everybody’s Gone To War’, a BRIT nomination for Best Female Solo Artist and an Ivor Novello nomination for ‘Sophia’. Now Nerina Pallot revisits ‘Fires’, newly remastered and available on vinyl for the first time, alongside a new extended and remastered edition of the album on CD & Digitally, all available on April 12th via Chrysalis Records.

Opening with ‘Everybody's Gone To War’ and the arresting opening lyric “I’ve got a friend, he’s a pure-bred killing machine,” the ‘Fires’ album sounds just as fresh today as it did when it was first released in 2005. With songs that moved between introspective intimacy and dramatic full-band exuberance, her lyrics ruminate on the hefty topics that songwriters are innately drawn to, yet her razor-sharp wit and biting moments of stature provide a personality that places her family within the lineage of greats such as Joni Mitchell, Fiona Apple and Tori Amos.

‘Fires’ has been remastered by Phil Kinrade at AIR Studios. The vinyl edition has been cut at half-speed by Barry Grint at Air Mastering and is accompanied by a 12-page booklet with an introduction by Jeremy Lascelles, and new in-depth liner notes by Nerina Pallot. CD and digital formats expand upon her original vision for the album with a host of additional material including b-sides, rarities and eight previously unreleased tracks. Highlights include her unique take on Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, which attracted a flood of new fans and became her biggest streaming track after soundtracking a key moment in the BBC / RTÉ hit ‘Normal People’; a completely rearranged duet version of ‘Mr King’; and two alternate take on ‘Everybody's Gone To War’Nerina’s version stripping back the original’s punchy energy, before producer Wendy Melvion’s version reshapes it via a country-rock prism.

Nerina says, “In the process of going through all of the accompanying archives for ‘Fire’, I was reminded of just how much this album meant and still means to me. I was prepared to do anything, literally anything, for it to see the light of day. It was born of frustration, wanting to give up, not giving up but keeping going, finding comfort in a community of friends and fans, driving myself alone from support gig to support gig and selling copies from the boot of my car. Somehow, those little songs just kept going and found their way from me to you.”

Pre-order Fires HERE.

Nerina Pallot will further celebrate ‘Fires’ by playing the album in full during her headline show at the London Palladium on April 13th. The show is almost sold-out, but a small amount of tickets remain available HERE.

In addition, Nerina will release a 10” vinyl edition of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ on April 20th as part of this year’s Record Store Day celebrations. The limited edition, hand-number 10” vinyl release compiles six of the tracks from the CD version of the ‘Fire’ reissue.

‘Fires’ proved to be the launchpad for a career which has seen Nerina follow her creative muse wherever it takes her, from the chamber pop of 2009’s ‘The Graduate’, via the Bernard Butler-produced retro colourings of ‘Year of the Wolf’ in 2011 to the electronica heavy ‘The Sound and the Fury’. Her rich and varied back catalogue has continued to expand in recent years, her uncompromising artistry resulting in the heartfelt emotions of ‘Stay Lucky’ (2017) and the lusciously orchestrated ‘I Don’t Know What I’m Doing’ (2022).
