Mara Liddle drops mysterious sultry dance track "Hush Hush"
Mara Liddle is a British pop artist, whose music fuses dance, electro and hyperpop to create a vibrant, addictive soundscape. With her bold energy, infectious hooks and relatable lyrics, Liddle depicts life as a young woman in the age of the internet, taking inspiration from artists including Charli XCX, Pinkpantheress and Shygirl.
Her latest release “Hush Hush” is a mysterious, sultry dance song that explores love triangles and the secrecy of hidden relationships. Inspired by romcoms and reality TV shows such as Love Island, Liddle touches on how love triangles are formed as a way to create drama and good television, but when it comes to our real life relationships, it can negatively influence them.
The songwriter shares, “My music is largely influenced by the digital age and media, the things that we see on Instagram or on TV, or the way that having a constant line of connection to someone can perpetuate anxiety in relationships. I liked the way that the line “put it on the screen, everybody sees” followed on from the line “caught you with my face on your screen” in my last single, “girl of your dreams”, and the idea that we live our lives through what we see online.”
The fast-paced track glistens with iridescent synths, ethereal vocals and a vibrant, kaleidoscopic melody, offering a more mature and nuanced side to Liddle.
Liddle’s music has been featured on BBC Introducing, nominated for Song of the Year 2023 by Future Hits Radio, and she has performed at various venues and festivals across the UK. As she enters an exciting new chapter, Mara Liddle is set to turn heads with “Hush Hush”.
