NEW ALBUM 'VIVA TU' OUT 20TH SEPTEMBER

LIVE (ACOUSTIC SET) AT O2 BRIXTON ACADEMY 22ND SEPTEMBER - TICKETS

Following 'Viva Tu' and 'Sao Paulo Motoboy', Manu Chao unveils 'Tu Te Vas' ('You’re Leaving' in English), the third single from his forthcoming album 'Viva Tu', set for release on 20th September. A multilingual and unifying work of art, the album seamlessly blends genres into a vibrant collection of moving, colourful postcards that put the human being at the centre of everything.

'Tu Te Vas' is a delicate and sensitive ballad about two souls who choose to part ways. True to Manu Chao’s style, the pain and struggle of existence are set to music. In collaboration with Laeti, the rapper known from the French TV series 'Validé', the song reflects on a past love to better face the future, without bitterness. Sung in both French and Spanish, 'Tu Te Vas' resonates with anyone who has faced the heartache of a breakup. This universal song transcends borders, wandering through the depths of emotions, and despite the recurring, definitive phrase "j’reviendrai jamais" (I will never come back), it does not exclude any future. What lingers are the ghosts, the shared kisses, and the photos of someone once loved (and perhaps still loved), all of which, once the pain fades, will bring smiles - the smiles of those who have loved freely and are grateful for it. It's a message of hope, a refusal to tarnish what was strong, sincere, and intense.

It's also a song that Laeti could only write with Manu Chao. Love cannot be sung with a heavy hand, and Manu Chao has always been able to express emotions with a true sense of simplicity and a healthy art of contrast ("Me Gustas Tu", "Je ne t'aime plus"), never falling into indecency and magnifying human emotions: "I think it's necessary to return to simple things. Complexity has brought the world to where we are today. Even though I think that to get to the simple things, you must go through the complexity first… Anyway, what makes me happy is building simple projects and writing simple songs".

It’s yet another tender melody where the ego doesn’t have much of a say. Tu t’en vas, pour toujours et tu seras toujours là, quelque part

Manu Chao has confirmed his first London show in 14 years at the O2 Brixton Academy on 22nd September. Tickets are available HERE.

The 13 new songs that make up Manu Chao’s upcoming album 'Viva Tu' are inspired by his travels, people’s daily lives and the current state of the world. Delivered in Spanish, French, Portuguese and English, notable collaborations include Willie Nelson on 'Heaven’s Bad Day' and French singer Laeti on 'Tu Te Vas'.

Since the release of 'La Radiolina' in 2007, Manu has continued to generously share his music. In addition to offering free tracks on his website and acoustic sessions on his YouTube channel, Manu has collaborated on projects with friends like Bomba Estéreo, Rumbakana, Charlart58, Carlangas, Dani Lança, Calypso Rose and many others. He has also participated in social causes like Playing For Change and The Dharavi Dream Project.

Manu has continued to travel the world to meet his audience. Accompanied by his faithful musicians and friends Lucky Salvadori, Miguel Rumbao and/or Mauro Metralla, in an acoustic format – “three friends with three sticks of wood” – they perform in various venues, family festivals and popular events in France, Switzerland, Holland, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Singapore, Nepal, India, Macedonia, Slovenia, Norway, Colombia, Paraguay, Bosnia... These concerts are delivered in intimate, almost mystical settings, with a desire to be in harmony and captivate a vibrant and engaged audience. Using the excuse of these concerts, he has visited communities, associations and cooperatives, as well as activist groups defending social causes that need support: Manu listens and shares. And, of course, reunions with friends always fuel his inspiration.
