After an eventful debut year filled with playing shows, making memories and experiencing new things - tears, heartbreak, newfound love, friendship and companionship, roadkill invites us to take a deep breath with their upcoming single "i hope you get some air".
The first window to be opened into the continuation of the band's tragic end-of-the-world fairytale, "i hope you get some air" serves as an invitation to get to know roadkill's artistic and emotional progress, and as an introduction to their sophomore album that is expected to be released in the summer of 2025. The song dives into the emotional outcomes of an unstable relationship, shallow expectations and useless efforts. It tells a story about how love is, sometimes, not enough, and about the hardships of keeping a flame lit with the singular efforts of loving someone more than they love you, and receiving love in an unfulfilling manner. It is a much more sober and collected story than what we're used to listening from the band, always exploring the complexities of interpersonal relationships, but, this time, with their feet planted right into the soil - what grows from it, now more than ever, teaches us about the human experience and invites us to learn how to turn a plethora of failed efforts into a field of dandelions.
