LISTEN

Having grown up in the US, British-born artist Katy Hurt was raised on the sounds of country and Americana with some Southern rock thrown into the mix meaning her blend of UK country comes from a truly authentic place and anchors her to the true roots of the genre.

She knows how to tell a story and brilliantly invites listeners into that world for 3 minutes at a time, she mixes that with her soulful vocal creating a dynamic soundscape that is truly her own which has set her apart from the current crop of rising talent coming through the ranks of the ever-growing British country music scene.

Her latest release comes in the form of ‘Oh Girl’ which dropped on June 7, and further set a marker. Katy Hurt is a voice that everyone who hears instantly connects with and this song is wonderfully crafted with a story arc that will resonate with many.

Speaking about the track, Katy says: “I am incredibly excited to share my latest song ‘Oh Girl’, which is especially close to my heart. Written during a time when a close friend was struggling, this song serves as a heartfelt reminder that sometimes it’s okay to let go of the pain and habits we’ve been holding onto and learn to let people in.  Collaborating with the talented Murray Pulver, Gab Zsapka, and Rhianna Rae Saj made this journey even more special. It was actually the last song that we wrote for my album (coming soon), and we finished it the day before we went into the studio to start tracking. I knew straight away that it was the last piece of the puzzle”

It’s an inspiring listen, and a timely reminder that we all have struggles and insecurities but it is okay to share those feelings and lean on those around us. It’s okay to unmask and show our true selves to those closest to us and let them in. Katy Hurt is a hugely impressive artist, and ‘Oh Girl’ is a wonderfully constructed track that will strike a chord and spark a conversation.
