Kabin Crew Unleash new double single "Kabin Party / Belter"
CORK, IRELAND – March 6, 2025 – Kabin Crew release their new double single, "Kabin Party / Belter" this Thursday via Rubyworks, fresh off the back of their smash hit “The Spark”, which has just won Song Of The Year at the RTÉ Choice Music Prize. [Embargoed until 6 March]
Following on from the cataclysmic success of Kabin Crew’s previous single, “The Spark”, their explosive new single “Kabin Party/Belter” definitely reaffirms the message that we cannot (and should not) stop what they do… Nor should we doubt them.
The tracks debuted on the “Kabin Crew’s Christmas Special” on RTÉ over the Christmas period and due to the resounding positive reaction from families and fans at home, the decision was made to release the tracks and accompanying music videos officially to fans worldwide.
At The Heart Of It All
Each song is born from a spontaneous burst of creativity at the weekly rap workshops at The Kabin Studio, a repurposed metal container turned into a non profit youth music space in Knocknaheeny on the northside of Cork City. Established in 2012 with the support of Music Generation Cork City, Garry McCarthy mentions that “The Kabin has grown out of a love for hip hop, songwriting, performance and building confidence within young people.”
“Kabin Party” is a group anthem from the junior rappers exploring what it’s like having parties at the youth studio space “Pepperoni pizza, loads of sweets, got beats and everybody’s rapping”. The whole community gets involved “Don’t matter if you’re 8 or 80, let go be free, ‘cos the Kabin is the place to be!”. It’s been their opening song at all the festivals they performed over the summer including Pukkelpop in Belgium.
“Belter” is another anthem from teen rapper Coben aka “Sparky” who has been attending rap workshops since he was 8. He also featured on the Late Late Toy Show in 2021 where he rapped for Ed Sheeran live on TV at the end of the show.
The Kabin Studio is made up of a crew of songwriters, rappers, musicians, creatives, volunteers and participants of all ages who believe in the power of making music and being creative. Headed up by Garry McCarthy, he emphasises the Kabin’s community-centric roots, noting, “We’re doing stuff like this all the time with the lil legends that attend – new songs every week with the team of talented and caring tutors and volunteers at The Kabin, having loads of fun and making memories in the process.”
“The Spark” Ignited
Since its release in May 2024, “The Spark” by Kabin Crew and Lisdoonvarna Crew has taken the world by storm, amassing over 2 billion views on social media and 52 million streams. This viral sensation was born from the collaboration of young talents in Cork and Clare, has resonated globally, earning praise from artists like Stormzy, Becky Hill, and Tove Lo. It was named “banger of the year” by Anthony Fantano. Their journey has seen them perform at major festivals, including Electric Picnic in Ireland and Pukkelpop in Belgium, where they captivated audiences of up to 15,000. The song's success has also led to two Grammy longlist nominations for the 2025 awards, a testament to the universal appeal of their message and sound.
Despite its viral success, Garry McCarthy added, “We hope that the success of this will help to secure the Kabin Studio’s future, support the wider group of young people that we work with and allow us to deliver more outreach projects for kids with fewer opportunities.”
