Introducing….Greybeards

Tell me about how you got started

Greybeards is, and has always been, Me (Olle), Niklas, Ingemar and Simon and we’re childhood friends more or less! Me and Simon formed our first band in our early teens and then the universe (or our choice of highschool) got us together as a quartet.

How would you describe your sound, and how has it evolved since you first started?

We’ve always said that ”We write bangers with distorted guitars”.

Who or what have been some of your biggest influences, musically and beyond?

It’s spread wide throughout the band, but Foo Fighters have always been our collective heroes.

What does your songwriting process typically look like – is it a more individual or collaborative effort?

We always begin our rehearsals with a long jam. No words, just music. But the end result demands many hours at our home studios for me and Ingemar.

Tell us about Out of The Red; what are the core themes you were dealing with on the record?

It stretches from the dark and political to absolute baby-simple love mumbling. So it covers life in general. I take great pride in the lyrics, I think they’re great.

How do you approach experimenting with new sounds or ideas when creating music?

We’re open to anything that sounds great. But our core sound is very simple: Two electric guitars through one Orange Dual Terror each, a massive bass-sound and hard-hitting drums from Niklas.

How does the artwork, for both the EP and singles, tie into the lyrical content?

Not too much really, It’s ”just” a piece of art created by my sister Gabriella (@evil_colour) with some prompts from us.

What’s been one of the most memorable moments in your journey so far?

First gig in China, headlining the Dingu Mountain Music Festival, was surreal. Police escorted us out because there were too many people wanting to meet us.

How do you prepare for live shows, and what do you aim to bring to your performances?

Energy is key for us live, so we try to relax as much as we can so we’re 100% charged when we hit the stage!

How do you balance creative expression with staying connected to your audience?

I think we write songs that are pretty accessible for most people. Catchy rock tunes. But with meaningful lyrics and interesting arrangements if you want to dig deeper.

What do you hope listeners take away from your work?

That we did the extra time you know. This is the result of a very organic process, something that we’re really happy with and where we’ve left nothing to chance. I hope that sounds.

What does the future hold for you – any plans or goals you’re excited about?

Really looking forward to show people this EP. It more or less DIY and still the best thing we’ve done to date. The whole process has given us great confidence for the future and we can’t wait for what’s to come!
