Hot on the heels of 3 SOLD OUT nights at The Grace in London and Deaf Institute in Manchester, Kent indie rock/alternative quartet Indoor Pets are delighted to reveal details of their forthcoming new album Pathetic Apathetic, set for release on 10th May 2024 via original label home Alcopop! Records.

The record is available to preorder now from: https://ilovealcopop.co.uk/collections/indoor-pets-page

Commenting on the new album, the quartet said: “In the five years since our debut album, we have faced personal and collective hurdles that made the concept of releasing new music feel like an unclimbable mountain. To be here now announcing a new record with the legends at Alcopop! Records, we are eternally grateful. For us, Pathetic Apathetic is a complete liberation from our preconceived notions of what success looks like for a small UK guitar band in 2024. We four imperfect humans have made something powerful and meaningful to us. And we cannot wait to share it with those who have the time and passion to listen.”

To celebrate the news, the band have revealed a video for lead single ‘London (Love To Hate)’ which is out now, and have also announced a run of May 2024 UK headline tour dates, with tickets on sale at 12pm, Friday 8th March (see below for listings).

Inspired by the beauty and misery of living in the capital, the video was self shot and edited by the band over a few days of wintery sunshine and inevitable rain.

“An ultra-widescreen cinematic rejection of portrait video trends, we aimed to depict the dichotomy of the hustle and bustle of working people and the inaccessible glass monuments erected by those who keep our profits; the last few spots where creative expression is still permitted while everywhere else is guarded by guns or dress codes,” say the band of the visuals. “In an attempt to represent our collective feeling that we needed to (had to) make a second record, our simultaneous anger and apathy manifests itself into an unignorable static looming larger and larger on the horizon, and we find that we can’t outrun the inevitable any longer.”

Indoor Pets will also be appearing at this year’s 2000 Trees Festival on 10th—13th July, with further festival dates TBA.

The album’s anthemic lead single ‘London (Love To Hate)’ was released last month with radio spins from Alyx Holcombe at BBC R1, Tom Robinson and the Indie Forever show at BBC 6music, and was made Record of The Week at BBC Radio Kent.

The single also smashed onto Spotify’s New Music Friday, All New Rock, The Rock List and shockwave playlists, alongside support from DORK Magazine, The Punk Site, Noizze and many more alternative tastemakers.

Featuring the high-pitched snarl of Jamie Glass, the melodic guitar stylings of James Simpson, the rhythmic force of Rob Simpson on drums, and the ribcage-rattling basslines of Oliver Nunn, Indoor Pets have finally returned triumphant from their self-imposed hiatus with the promise of tour dates, a behemoth sophomore album, and a far darker mood.

A band that have never taken themselves too seriously, and now preparing to lay bare their internal angst for all to see, Indoor Pets are no longer pulling punches.
