Dublin upstarts Hotgirl announce ‘Blast Off’ EP, arriving April 10th via Cartoon Records and unleash raucous new effort ‘On The Brink’, out today (Jan 16th).

Fresh from supporting the likes of Sprints, Pillow Queens, Fat Dog and Cliffords in the second half of 2024, Hotgirl’s unbridled live energy has already captivated audiences nationwide and certainly helped establish the quartet as one of the standout acts in Ireland’s thrilling emerging music scene.

Readying themselves for a breakout year, the band, marshalled by enigmatic frontwoman Ashley Abbedeen, and ably supported by the angular lead guitar lines of Sophie Boxwell, the booming breakbeats of Nick Stanley and the low-end thump of Jake Hurley (Local Boy), are primed to release their upcoming EP this spring, having collaborated with esteemed producer Neil Kennedy (Milk Teeth, Creeper) on their forthcoming material.

Exploring relationship dynamics in their brand new release, Abbedeen explained: “‘On The Brink’ talks about my sadness, my insecurities and my past trauma in a way I’ve never felt able to speak about. I try to remind myself though that I am not special and everyone goes through this sadness and loneliness and we can find comfort in each other, by sharing that. I’m just trying to forget how shitty I’ve felt about myself for so long and embrace a new, happier me.”
