Australian surf/skate rockers and VOLCOM spokes-dudes Hockey Dad release another ripper of a rock track with ‘Safety Pin,’ off of their forthcoming ‘Rebuild Repeat’ album, due 14th June via Farmer & the Owl / BMG. Watch the video now. The band just wrapped up a US headline tour, and are set to embark on a hometown Aussie run with Militarie Gun straight after their album release in June. They’ve also been announced as support to Ocean Alley around the UK & Europe in August/September on a mammoth run of shows including two Roundhouses in London. All dates below.

’Safety Pin’ rings true to the band's West Coast sound, with plenty of brightly-tinged reverb and gang vocals on a fiendishly addictive chorus: the backing vocals on the second chorus are some of Zach’s favourite moments on this whole forthcoming record.

Of the new single, Zach (Stephenson - vocals / guitar) says "Safety Pin started off initially with just a drumbeat and the title. It quickly picked up speed with the tempo as we were writing it and it got super exciting. My favourite part of the track is the backing vocals in the second chorus. Super fun to record and I can’t wait to play this song live. The lyrics refer to your ride or die. The person you can count on when you need someone to listen to you rant, explode or breakdown. Someone who without even asking, knows exactly what to say to calm you down and keep you together in crazy situations.”

Hockey Dad are an Australian surf rock duo comprised of childhood best friends Zach and Billy Fleming (drums), formed when there were no waves to surf & turned into a global standard for modern surf/skate rock. With fans at NME, The Guardian, NPR Music, triple j, a long lasting partnership with Volcom, & more, they've accumulated over 100 million streams on Spotify alone, and have worked with legends like producer John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill, Blonde Redhead, Death Cab for Cutie, Los Campesinos!, Sleater-Kinney), and toured with Third Eye Blind, Taking Back Sunday, Mt. Joy, Ultra Q, and more.

’Rebuild Repeat’ is Hockey Dad’s best album. Produced by Australian alt-rock icon Alex Burnett, it exemplifies Hockey Dad’s knack for catchy melodies and infectious hooks, drawing listeners into their world of sun-soaked riffs and irresistible charm. Through a more introspective lens, ‘Rebuild Repeat’ explores themes of resilience, growth, and the everyday struggles of modern life; a no-skips breakthrough LP that somehow invokes the muscle of Modest Mouse and DZ Deathrays with the wise-beyond-their-years touch of Los Campesinos! and Sparkadia. If Wilco’s spider-ish guitar freakouts wore flip-flops, that’s ‘Rebuild Repeat’.
