Bristol punk/noise rock quartet HEAVY LUNGS start the year as they mean to go on today by announcing a run of April 2024 UK headline tour dates, with tickets on sale at 10am, Friday 16th February 2024.

Commenting on the dates, the band said: “The spring will be springing and our ears are still ringing. Soon yours will be as well, because your boiz are back on the road in the UK. We’re hitting up some cities we’ve never played before which is terribly exciting. We won’t stop until we’ve covered every single sweaty corner of this island.”

To celebrate the news, the four piece have revealed a video for latest single ‘Plagiarism’ which is taken from their critically-acclaimed 2023 debut album, All Gas No Brakes, out now via Alcopop! Records.

Of the concept for the visuals, the band comment: “This video for ‘Plagiarism’ is in no way a playful reference to a film by a famous artist whose name rhymes with Randy Pothole. That would be way too on the nose and when did Heavy Lungs ever do anything like that? Filmed and edited by our very own George Garratt. Special thanks to James Maclucas, Rosie Lea, and Rich Wilks.”

Recorded at Holy Mountain Studios with additional production at Humm Studios by producer Chris Fullard and assistant engineer Stanley Gravett, Heavy Lungs’ debut album All Gas No Brakes was mastered by Adam Gonsalves at Telegraph Audio.

Across the record—and especially on singles ‘Dancing Man’, ‘All Gas No Brakes’, ‘Head Tilter’, and ‘Plagiarism’—the band examine topics of anxiety, guilt, and mental health, but they’re never too far away from that healthy dose of Heavy Lungs humour. Be it redefining plagiarism and really making it their own, or musing on the inevitability of growing old and uncool, there’s a sense of mischief throughout.

Early singles ‘Dancing Man’, ‘All Gas No Brakes’ and ‘Head Tilter’ were released in 2023 to a wave of enthusiastic support from Steve Lamacq at BBC 6music, DIY Magazine, DORK, UPSET, CLUNK Magazine, NARC Magazine and more, with the band recently playing a BBC 6music live session for Deb Grant and Tom Ravenscroft.

The band are also racking up an ever-increasing list of DSP support from Spotify including spots on high profile playlists including Post Punk, All New Punk, New In Rock, ASAP Rock, as well as Apple Music’s Matt Wilkinson's Playlist, and TIDAL’s Indie Britain

More about HEAVY LUNGS:
Formed during the early days of summer 2017, Heavy Lungs can’t help feeling like a product of their Bristolian environment. “Living here, it's hard not to see the scars the city can leave,” says drummer George Garratt. “Like burning your bare leg skin on the exhaust of a motorbike—inconvenient and painful, but not without its equal share of humour and self reflection.”

Quickly writing and recording an EP and playing their first show within months of forming, they have been a band hungry from the off. Honing their craft and forging their tight bond as a unit, the quartet have gone from strength to strength over the past few years, even through the global pandemic. Incidentally, if their frontman’s name seems oddly familiar it might be because the Ukrainian-born vocalist is the titular subject of IDLES hit ‘Danny Nedelko’.

If you’re wondering what being a part of HEAVY LUNGS’ particular gang is like, they describe it as “something similar to dating three people at the same time. Daunting, exhausting, but not without some very serious privileges. We share a lot of mutual friends, interests, hates, postcodes, dietary restrictions, debts, UBERs, dreams/nightmares, vices and daddy issues.”

Hand-picked by French photographer and grand couturier Hedi Slimane for CELINE's 'Portrait of a Performer' series with Esquire Magazine, Nedelko and the band have also collaborated with a range of high profile brands including Fred Perry and Jägermeister.

Touring extensively across the UK and Europe, with three EPs released so far, HEAVY LUNGS are only just getting started with their plans for world domination. Attracting significant radio play, with fans already including Steve Lamacq and Iggy Pop at BBC 6music, and sharing stages with the likes of METZ, Thee Oh Sees, IDLES, JOHN, CROWS, and DITZ, the band have always been in good company.
