London Headline Show on 30th January

Introducing songwriter Hannah Maryse, who today shares her debut solo single "Oh Honey, No" along with news of a London headline show on 30th January at El Vermut.

“Oh Honey, No" marks a cosmic shift in Hannah Maryse's songwriting - a desert-tinged groove where Laurel Canyon warmth meets shimmering psychedelia. The nomadic British songwriter's debut solo single weaves heartache and healing into a hazy dreamscape, reflecting on a friendship's demise with the help of a little self-medication.

Hannah says of "Oh Honey, No" and the accompanying video: "I wrote this after spiralling over and eventually accepting a parting of ways. We shot mostly in slow-mo on Cofette - this insanely desolate beach - to create a disoriented woozy feeling. For the chorus, we flipped it - filming fast then slowing down to capture the euphoria of letting go."

Recorded at Berlin's Reflex Magnet studios with producer KB Nasca (Chicos de Nasca), the single features Rachel Glassberg (Matching Outfits) on drums, Tommy Fuller on bass, and Adrian Hermes (Leopard Papagei) on banjo. Hermes also mixed and mastered the song, and directed the accompanying video, shot against the ethereal backdrop of Fuerteventura's Playa Cofete.

After years immersed in Berlin's underground psych and anti-folk scenes, playing with acts like Soft Milk and Sour Janes, the now London-based Maryse steps into new sonic territory. This evolution follows her project Part Bat earning acclaim for "gorgeous songs that without exception demand a second listen" (Beehive Candy), with "Oh Honey, No" offering the first glimpse of music slated for 2025.
