Grace Calver shares new single ‘Will U Be Mine?’

On her latest single and the new era of her music Grace explains:

“I am a 20 year old singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist from Essex.

Up until now I have been known for my tongue-in-cheek indie pop songs moaning about my love life but no more! I am about to enter my

CRUSH ERA!

‘Will U Be Mine?’ (formerly known as ‘The Cheesy One’ when it was nameless and being tried out in my live set) will be released on 2nd February 2024. A song about instant attraction, catching someone’s eye across the room, wondering if they felt it too or just smiled at you out of politeness! Do you take the chance and ask them? Tell me I am not the only one to crush on someone I’ve just met and imagine in detail how it could work out. Now you see why it was called the cheesy one!

‘Will U Be Mine?’ is an energetic and fun pop song with swirly guitars and lively synths. When I started writing the synth part for the song I was taken back to the music in the video games I have played over the years and I leant into these for inspiration. This then led to the art work idea of me as my very own pop star video game character, drawn by the very talented El Locksmith who I met at college a couple of years ago.

The song was produced, mixed and mastered by Jake Day at North Acre Studios.

My influences include Waterparks, Maisie Peters, Baby Queen, Dylan and Caity Baser.

I have been supported by BBC Introducing for all my singles and was named as ‘One to Watch in 2023’ by BBC Introducing Suffolk. Part of my live session recorded for BBC Suffolk features on the National BBC social media page. I have also had my singles played across BBC Essex, BBC Norfolk and BBC Cambridgeshire as well as Amazing Radio UK and USA with Charlie Ashcroft.

I won the Female Solo category at the NMG Awards (New Music Generator) covering Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire in 2022. I have also won the Best Solo Artist award for 2023 at The Six Six bar awards in Cambridge.

I have had support slots with The Lottery Winners, Alfie Templeman, Toploader, Leah Weller, Low Girl, Liberty X, Plastic Mermaids, Gemma Rogers and Thomas Nicholas (from the American Pie movies) on his UK tour.

The Crush Era will continue this year with plenty of live shows, including more from me with my band, and further singles to come! Find out how this works out for me!”
