A gear change occurs on Nature TV's top down, cabriolet cruise through summer's hot spots, en route to the release of their Mid Flight EP this autumn, dialling-down the coastal pop tones, upping the sound of oozing, dive-bar sad soul and sinking deep into the exquisite, romantic misery of their new single, Frida - OUT NOW on Heist or Hit. Expert escapists surviving life by gold-plating down times and gilding inescapable truths, the Brighton four-piece's missive for mid-summer ripples with cocktail-draining cool as the last drops of infatuation's futile hope are poured.

Critically, as well as self-ordained, world-leading sad-boi yacht-rockers, exploiting their collective, forensic musicianship (read: nerds) and propensity for finding the beauty in the things that squirm from the grasp of the nice guys who finish last, Nature TV's estate of easy-listening indie-pop grows one song at a time. Swinging open the doors to their plush inner room of songcraft for the first time in 2023 with the irresistible Illusions, the band somehow built in the rain-soaked introspection of The Blue Nile, jangling 80's Postcard Records indie and the lush, retro sounds of East Coast late-70s pop into a new tower of understated song. With follow up, Words, also shaking fans awake, Frida steps into the light to follow two vital singles onto fans' playlists.

Diaristic and brutally open, yet soothed with tongue-in-cheek charm, the song is redolent of the Nature TV mission: singing from a cool centre of love denied, resignation and unwanted reality, while basking in the sunset warmth of glowing basslines, caramel guitars and languid beats.

Singer and co-songwriter, Guy Bangham says: "'Frida' is about those people who keep you awake at night, but absolutely wouldn’t be right for you. In most cases, you both come to realise that in time. Sometimes you'll make a move, but more often they'll be thought of as the one that got away. It can be better to never act, but leave them up on a pedestal. Fantasy, nine times out of 10, is better than reality."

Coinciding with the release of the Mid Flight EP, the chance to hear Nature TV’s works of understated grandeur live comes around this October as they plot out an 11-date UK Tour, opening in Portsmouth on Tue 3 October and finishing the road trip with a return to London, playing Colours on Fri 27 October. Having already toured the UK with Chappaqua Wrestling in spring, and enjoyed an overseas adventure to play the NXNE Festival in Toronto, Canada, the band hits the road in an advanced state of match fitness.

All four of Nature TV, Bangham, Josh Erişkin (bass), Jimmy Hunt (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Zal Jones (drums) decamped to Wales’ Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, staying in a 500-year-old farmhouse, to write and record the new batch of songs that have become the Mid Flight EP.  The release builds on their existing back catalogue, which opened with debut EP ‘proper’, Emotion Sickness, and moved swiftly on to add a further three EPs – Lady Luck, Heartbreak Skyline and Nightshift.

Their unhurried and ongoing rise since first emerging in 2019 has been assisted by their unquestionable finesse as a live band, taking to the stages of festivals such as ILMC, The Great Escape, Wild Paths and NXNE alongside support slots with respected peers, PINS, Wyldest, CVC, VANT and Swimming Tapes. Following a full UK tour with Liverpool's Trudy and The Romance, the band last took to the road for their own headline dates in October 2022 where they sold out shows in major UK cities, from Edinburgh to London.
