Brighton punks DITZ and Bristol labelmates Heavy Lungs are pleased to announce that they have come together in a spectacular Record Store Day 2024 soundclash, bringing both of their incendiary live BBC sessions out for public consumption for the first ever time since they were broadcast on Deb Grant and Tom Ravenscroft’s BBC 6Music New Music Fix show in 2023.

DITZ x Heavy Lungs (Live At The BBC) will be available on pink and green splatter vinyl with an exclusive trading card in each vinyl, mixing a series of solid gold hits, huge cult favourites, and a cover of ‘Danny Nedelko’ by IDLES from the Nedelko-fronted Heavy Lungs.

Limited to 1000 copies and never to be repressed, the record will be available exclusively in stores on Record Store Day this year, 20th April 2024. Head to www.recordstoreday.co.uk now to find your local record shop and how to take part in this year’s celebrations.

DITZ guitarist Anton Mockok says of the release: “We loved recording the session with Deb and Tom, and also discovered some of our favourite bands through split releases, so when we got the chance to release one with our pals Heavy Lungs we couldn't wait to make it happen.”

Heavy Lungs frontman Danny Nedelko added: “Heavy Lungs and DITZ have both played on BBC, S H R E D D I N G. You missed it? We are disappointed of course, but now you have a chance to redeem yourself by purchasing this RSD exclusive limited edition vinyl which features both of our sessions. Hi fi quality and the warmth of that wax sound is guaranteed. However what’s not guaranteed is you owning a copy if you sleep on this. Only 1000 LPs have been printed so act fast or live out the rest of your days drowning in regret. No pressure though xoxo”

DITZ hit the road for a French headline tour earlier this month, with many dates now sold out, and will be supporting IDLES on their forthcoming March 2024 EU tour dates. They released their critically acclaimed debut album The Great Regression on Alcopop! Records in 2022, following up with the standalone 2023 single ‘Riverstone’ last year.

Recorded at Holy Mountain Studios with additional production at Humm Studios by producer Chris Fullard and assistant engineer Stanley Gravett, Heavy Lungs’ debut album All Gas No Brakes is out now, mastered by Adam Gonsalves at Telegraph Audio. The band started the year by announcing a run of April 2024 UK headline tour dates, with tickets on sale now.

More about DITZ:

A ferocious live band, DITZ create forward-thinking noise rock/post-punk which features vast arrays of pedal effects with influences from 80s and 90s post-hardcore and noise rock. Their debut album ‘The Great Regression’ was recorded by Ben Hampson (Blood Red Shoes & Tigercub), mastered by Kate Tavini (We Are Scientists & Nadine Shah) & released on Alcopop! Records.

Their limited-edition Dinked vinyl which sold out in under 24 hours and they gained plaudits from the likes of Pitchfork, Der Spiegel, Steve Lamacq, DIY and Clash. The standard edition of the vinyl also sold out and has been repressed. Live they are a formidable beast, in 2022 they toured with DIIV, played festivals less than 24 hours after the drummer dislocated his shoulder, jumped into lakes mid-set and blew fans away with their powerful and pounding onslaught. They toured the UK twice that year and made several excursions to mainland Europe, as well as playing to thousands of people at festivals such as La Route Du Rock, Reeperbahn, Great Escape, Truck, 2000 Trees, Krankenhaus and many more.

To capture the energy of their live shows, the band recorded their set from The Great Regression tour at The Louisiana in Bristol and released it as a live LP called ‘On The Bai’ou’ in March 2023. Featuring all ten tracks from the album along with previous singles and live favourites ‘Gayboy’ and ‘Role Model’, the album is a blistering assault on the senses, that gives a window into the world of a DITZ live show.

More about HEAVY LUNGS:

Formed during the early days of summer 2017, Heavy Lungs can’t help feeling like a product of their Bristolian environment. “Living here, it's hard not to see the scars the city can leave,” says drummer George Garratt. “Like burning your bare leg skin on the exhaust of a motorbike—inconvenient and painful, but not without its equal share of humour and self reflection.”

Quickly writing and recording an EP and playing their first show within months of forming, they have been a band hungry from the off. Honing their craft and forging their tight bond as a unit, the quartet have gone from strength to strength over the past few years, even through the global pandemic. Incidentally, if their frontman’s name seems oddly familiar it might be because the Ukrainian-born vocalist is the titular subject of IDLES hit ‘Danny Nedelko’.

Hand-picked by French photographer and grand couturier Hedi Slimane for CELINE's 'Portrait of a Performer' series with Esquire Magazine, Nedelko and the band have also collaborated with a range of high profile brands including Fred Perry and Jägermeister.

Touring extensively across the UK and Europe, with three EPs released so far, HEAVY LUNGS are only just getting started with their plans for world domination. Attracting significant radio play, with fans already including Steve Lamacq and Iggy Pop at BBC 6music, and sharing stages with the likes of METZ, Thee Oh Sees, IDLES, JOHN, CROWS, and DITZ, the band have always been in good company.
