Dead Fox Dead Tree Release “Dancing on the Line”

Dead Fox Dead Tree today announced the release of their second single “Dancing on the Line”, off of their upcoming full length album, due for release in September 2023. Dancing on the Line is a song about mental health events and was written by Dead Fox during a series of nervous breakdowns he faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The track’s smooth but melancholy vocals are accompanied by a unique instrumental arrangement consisting of 60’s inspired guitar tones, a thundering drum performance, mariachi horns/strings and a spaghetti western lead guitar.

Dancing on the Line is the follow-up single to “Sixteen Digits”, released earlier this summer. Dancing on the Line and Sixteen Digits are available on all streaming platforms with accompanying videos available on the Dead Fox Dead Tree Channel on YouTube. DFDT can be found on Instagram at @deadfoxdeadtree.

Dead Fox Dead Tree is a multi-instrumentalist duo consisting of Dead Fox (primary vocalist) and Dead Tree (primary drummer) creating sweet and sour psychedelic, grunge and alternative music. The two studio rats are based in Austin, Texas and San Francisco, California, and record using a variety of vintage guitars, synths and drum kits alongside modern and software-based instruments. DFDT release an EP in the summer of 2022 and are slated to release their upcoming full-length album “Fell to Pieces” in September 2023.

I like how ‘Dancing in the Line’ blends genres. The intensity of grunge combined with the trippy feel of psychedelic and electronic elements of new wave. It’s a very well-constructed, immersive, haunting track, which suits the lyrical theme well. It really gives the feeling of a mental descent into darkness.
