Brighton emos Had Sandy release new EP 'Desire Paths'
“Adopting a broad and anthemic emo-inspired aesthetic for their initial offering, ‘In Between’ makes for a stunning introduction to their sound so far. With its killer hooks and shimmering guitar riffs throughout, they are certainly ones to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.” - Return Of Rock
“Taken from their new EP, If They All Miss You, this is a beautifully crafted new tune that boasts heartfelt vocal flows over a well-produced and melodic instrumental.” - Havoc Underground
“Brighton-based outfit showcase their debut EP with this bold and driven alt-rock belter” - Mystic Sons
HAD SANDY
Brighton emos Had Sandy set to release their second EP 'Desire Paths' out on 21st March via Sugar-Free Records.
FFO: Tigers Jaw, Citizen, Balance & Composure
Equal parts dreamy as it is heavy, this collection of heartfelt songs sees Brighton’s exciting quartet Had Sandy really step up their game for their sophomore EP. Like fairy lights strung across a mosh pit, their sound is a perfect blend of angsty emo, grunge and poppy hooks, with cleverly crafted songs that demonstrate a great level of musicianship. In their short life as a band so far, Had Sandy have made their stamp on the Brighton DIY emo scene and shared the stage with bands like Sport, Fountain, prom, Nel Blu, and with an upcoming appearance at Brighton’s own Homegrown Festival, there are no signs of slowing down for the quartet. The band have a UK tour lined up in March with shoegaze-emo outfit Give Up, and also have an aesthetically gorgeous live session in a coffee shop coming soon.
Desire Paths is the first collection of songs written and recorded by the whole of Had Sandy as a group, as opposed to If They All Miss You, their debut EP released in October last year. The three-track collection comes with greater musical integrity and depth of instrument parts.
Jude Allenby spoke about the EP and lead single - “The title Desire Paths comes from the phenomenon of the same name, something I found intriguing when beginning to write lyrics for the songs - specifically the track ‘Lightning McSkinup’.
The song is about using the idea of a desire path and relating it to how one’s life story might play out; forcing yourself down your own path of desire, and staying away from what you feel forced to do.”
