Bonze Returns With Mercedes EP and 2 New Singles 'Mercedes' and 'Come Back To Me'
After just under two years of genre-bending Single releases, Bonze releases ‘(Mercedes)’, his first EP on the 7th of July. Inspired by The Chemical Brothers, Jai Paul, Bon Iver, The 1975, amongst other influences; this EP aims to introduce the listener to Bonze’s authentic and individual combination of song-writing and electronic/underground dance music.
This 4-track EP contains an instrumental introduction track ‘Intro – (Mercedes)’, two Singles ‘(Mercedes)’ and ‘Come Back To Me’, along with a chill out remix of ‘(Mercedes)’ by Italian visual artist and dance music producer; ‘Tokamu’, who is also a good friend of Bonze. In a sense, both Singles are classic love songs narratively, but the electronic dance music-inspired instrumentals aim to challenge and juxtapose those more traditional components. ‘(Mercedes)’ is a love song about the uncertainties of love, whilst ‘Come Back To Me’ is a B-Side centred around the longing that one can experience post-break-up, packaged as a poolside Indie-Pop bop.
Bonze mentions, “The narratives that inspired the song writing of this EP were a culmination of painful personal experiences based around a personal relationship of mine. Rupture and repair in relationship is archetypal and so that is what inspired both the A and B-Sides of this EP. This inspiration is exactly what this EP is about; romantic relationships. I wanted to write an EP that succinctly delivers these narratives through the lens of electronic dance music and melancholic song writing. I wanted to write this EP in my own DIY, unhinged and very deliberate style in order to create an immersive and original listening experience”.
There will be a limited vinyl release of this EP from Bonze’s online shop, along with an online distribution.
