Beldon Haigh brings out the perfect end-of-year anthem for Christmas 2024 'White House Meltdown Christmas Day'
About the Song:
Beldon Haigh brings out the perfect end-of-year anthem for Christmas 2024.
'White House Meltdown Christmas Day' is a satirical song and video, which uses the band's insanely realistic masks to parody Donald Trump celebrating Christmas, at The White House, with two close friends Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.
The lyrics for this song could not be more prophetic as the band parodies Trump reflecting on all the “biggly” things he’s done, election’s he’s won…more than anyone”.
The video is a master stroke. Set in opulent Christmas surroundings, with special Trump baubles and a Trump fairy on the Christmas tree, it depicts the three authoritarian leaders enjoying the festive cheer whilst also squabbling over games and presents and in particular arguing about who gets to press the big red (nuclear) button.
White House Meltdown is a total Christmas cracker of a song, with a huge chorus, clever irreverent lyrics, and sonically reminiscent of the huge Christmas songs of the seventies. Its dark humour messaging could not be more relevant and features the brilliant and unusual chorus lyrics “We’re gonna have a White House Meltdown Christmas Day, your gonna find a Kremlin Gremlin hiding in your sleigh, we’re gonna have a pyong yang dingdong Hogmanay, we’re gonna have a White House Meltdown Christmas Day” And it soars.
Finally, right at the end, there is a cameo appearance by Boris Johnson, who laments being left out of the band and smashes up the band’s White House Christmas cake. It needs to be seen and believed.
Beldon Haigh has had a huge year this year, they are still in the USA triple-A charts with Elected and had a superb run at EdFringe with their rock opera Dystopia.
About Beldon Haigh:
Beldon Haigh’s songs are often about broken systems. Songs that explore people’s increasing obsession with convenience and consumerism, whilst wondering why we still long for the values of the past. The band uses music to tell stories to provoke, poke fun, protest, inspire and bring hope to an often broken world. From a musical vintage that cherishes real instruments, intriguing arrangements and contemporary playing. The band deliver a fitting musical tapestry on which to weave the more traditional values of fairness, compassion, camaraderie, fellowship, community and society illustrated in the songs. A focus on what is important in life, rather than the acquisition of possessions, wealth or power.
