Wrapped in driving and expansive instrumentation, Astral Orange’s newest release ‘The Whole World Crashes Down’, borrows from classic synth nostalgia while counterbalancing with a catchy and contemporary composition. Tightly controlled guitars run on top of a driving bass and drum section that combines in a melodic release in an ear-worm of a chorus. It’s immediately indicative of some memory from the past that didn’t quite exist, but you’re sure you experienced. Perhaps in a dream.
The lyrical, melodic and rhythmic dynamic inserts a simultaneously melancholic yet hopeful message in the understanding that negative thoughts become intrusive and mould our worldview. The “things-were-better-back-when” attitude cripples our understanding of the present circumstances.The whole world crashes down…until it doesn’t.
