Irish auteur Annie-Dog releases ‘15’ EP, out today (February 27th) via Dance To The Radio (Ellur, Far Caspian, Terra Twin).
Continuing her remarkable rise through the emerging indie landscape, Annie-Dog floats ethereally across genres, occupying a mesmerising world somewhere between the likes of Grimes and Pinkpantheress. Equipped with her own unique songcraft and production style, the newcomer’s music acts as a vessel for her subconscious, transforming into a melancholic surrealness that truly pushes the boundaries of what pop music can be.
Firmly at the forefront of the rising indie elite, Annie-Dog’s hypnotic medium of existential indie-pop musings has already attracted widespread plaudits throughout the press community, with key champions aligning such as The Guardian, The Fader, NME, Dork Magazine, DIY Magazine, The Line Of Best Fit, So Young Magazine, Clash, Wonderland, Crack, Gorilla vs Bear and Notion, not to mention countless spins across the BBC 6 Music (Deb Grant, Tom Ravenscroft, Emily Pilbeam) Radio X (John Kennedy), RTÉ (Dan Hegarty) and SiriusXM airwaves.
With debut live outings ticked off at festivals including Pitchfork Music Festival London, Eurosonic and The Great Escape in 2024, Annie-Dog is primed to step things up a notch on the live front this year, with her debut trip stateside for SXSW already lined up this spring.
Speaking ahead of her EP release, Annie-Dog revealed: “I’m very excited to finally release this EP. Although at this stage it feels like more of a shedding than a release. In a good way. I like sharing my music. I don’t usually like sharing the meaning behind my music though. Not because I’m too cool, or evasive. But because I do my music a disservice in explaining what I meant when I said (you can fill in literally anything I’ve ever said or written here). The mirror of the thing can never be the thing, you know?
I’m proud of this EP. And the last one. Two EPs released back to back. I think it’s time I do some more living and writing now though. I’m aiming for that thin, wild, mercury sound next."
