We are delighted to present Shanti, the second video and single from Sébastien Guérive's new album Obscure Clarity, due for release on November 10, 2023.

Shanti comes from Sanskri and means "Peace, tranquility, serenity". This clip accompanies the final track on the Obscure Clarity album.

The end of a journey through contrasting emotions, sometimes dark and strange, at other times bright and soothing. The 2 terms of this duality cannot be dissociated, as one cannot exist without its opposite.

This conclusion to the Obscure Clarity album is intended to offer the listener an interlude of serenity likely to evoke an emotional tone of inner peace and resourcing.

The Shanti clip begins with a long tracking shot, like an aerial view over the earth. We discover a landscape devoid of any trace of civilization, very mineral. From this landscape emerge breaths and movements of mineral materials driven by the arrival of water, which gives them the energy to set themselves in motion. Water, like light, is essential for life to flourish and for the making of bricks of life. It's this source of life's development that we wanted to evoke in this clip.

Sébastien Guérive comments: "To produce it, we worked in macro mode, using physical reactions involving iron filings subjected to magnetic fields, as well as heterogeneous mixtures whose combination produces material effects evocative of the original soup from which life developed."

Sébastien Guérive is a composer and sound engineer based in Nantes, France. After studying the cello, he quickly turned to musical creation using computer music, which opened up infinite possibilities for mixing and transforming sound material. Close to the work of a plastic artist, he is as much concerned with the textural aspect of the sound as he is with the melody.

Since 2001 and his first album La Pense Érrante composed from collages of samples and "field recording", he continues to develop his personal work (Io'n, Da Sweep ...) and to collaborate on projects for the theater, dance, music composition for image.

His first album as a self-titled artist, Omega Point, was released in 2020 to great acclaim from the public and the international press. The video clip for Omega II, a track taken from this album, has won numerous awards at international festivals and now boasts over 850 K views on Vimeo.
