“Alien Chicks are determined to unseat you at every turn. It’s total strangeness, but you suspect that’s exactly the way Alien Chicks want it” NME

“Alien Chicks have cemented themselves as an essential name on London’s gig circuit” DIY

“The trio are proving that in a time of carefully curated personas, there’s still room for a bit of glorious, unfiltered mayhem” Dork

“Their thunderous, flash-in-the-pan bouts of intensity” Clash

London post-punk specialists Alien Chicks announce second EP ‘Forbidden Fruit’ (pre-order here), set for release May 9th via Hideous Mink Records (Opus Kink) & SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special) and share brand new single ‘Donkeyhead’ (video here), out today (February 4th).

Marking the follow-up to electrifying EP lead single  ‘Babe’ out late last year, ‘Donkeyhead’ showcases the sharp guitar work of Josef Lindsay, pulsating basslines of Stefan Parker-Steele, and explosive drumming of Martha Daniels in full flow, with the band’s raw and innovative sound capturing the spirit of London's underground music culture and attracting countless fans in the process.

Whether delivering rapid-fire rap verses, intricate jazz-inspired bass riffs, or thunderous punk rhythms, Alien Chicks continue to push boundaries and defy expectations. The band’s intoxicating live show has already seen them sell-out multiple London headliners over the last few years including the iconic Moth Club last summer, as well as sharing stages alongside the likes of English Teacher, Fat Dog, Lambrini Girls, and Warmduscher to name a few.

Praise across the media landscape has since followed from The Independent, NME, DIY, Dork, Clash, CMU and Rough Trade, whilst plaudits have also circulated across the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Arielle Free, Amy Lamé), BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson) and Radio X (John Kennedy) airwaves. Having just kicked off 2025 in style with Independent Venue Week appearances, the band will soon be heading back out on a run of UK shows in support of Pom Poko, followed by their own EU tour dates.

Detailing ‘Donkeyhead’, Josef explained: “Part of ‘Donkeyhead’ was a fever dream, in which Josef gave into the (imagined) circumstance in which someone would break into the house and shoot him in the head. Not paranoid, he seemed to be at peace with this situation. It was a song we played live when we first started as a band but it was forgotten about for a while. We recently merged it with another unfinished song (originally titled “no bins”), the chorus of which poked fun at the fact that there seem to be no bins in north London anywhere! As many of our songs do, Donkeyhead overall has a driving, punky energy to it whilst also containing underlying melodic jazzy sections. It will be the first song on the new EP!”

Alien Chicks’ ‘Donkeyhead’ is out now via Hideous Mink Records and SO Recordings and available on all digital platforms.

Alien Chicks is Josef (guitar, vocals), Stefan (bass, backing vocals), Martha (drums, backing vocals)
