A Swift Farewell, the quartet emo pop punk artists hailing from the heart of Eora/ Sydney, Australia, are thrilled to announce their upcoming single ‘Silence,’ and the band also welcomes Gabrielle Michael (Bellwether) as their new bassist, adding a fresh dynamic to their already powerful sound. ‘Silence’ marks the band's poignant debut for the year. ‘Silence’ is produced and mixed by Nat Sherwood (Besties, Weightless, Sarah Saint James), with further drum engineering by Chris Blancato (Northlane, Vilify, Reliqa) and mastered by Grant Berry of Fader Mastering (Stand Atlantic, Yours Truly, Redhook)
A Swift Farewell brings out the angst in their latest release. "Silence" ushers in a new musical era for the band. The verse draws listeners in with a calm but dark guitar riff and electronic drum loops. The pre-chorus highlights vocalist Ryo with layered harmonies and minimal instrumentation. The chorus bursts with energy and angst, leading into a dynamic second verse, an explosive guitar solo, and an outro that resolves without the usual final chorus.
The frustration of being in a one-sided relationship is palpable, where the other person is consumed by their own world, constantly talking about their life and problems without a single thought for yours. They lean on you for emotional support, oblivious to the fact that you, too, may be struggling. The lyrics, "Silence, there's nothing like silence," perfectly capture the yearning for peace, the desperate wish to say, "Shut up, I'm sick of hearing about your problems"
Gabrielle Michael shares their thoughts on becoming the fourth puzzle piece of A Swift Farewell.
“I’m [Gabrielle] beyond excited to be teaming up with my very best friends in A Swift Farewell. It feels like a long time coming after filling in on bass for them on tour. Nothing feels better than sharing the stage with people who you not only love, but know that they share the same deep passion for the art you create together. - Michael
